Even though the weather was cold and a bit wet, we went for a walk in wood!
We learned to identify both evergreen trees or one with leaves. We learned about the forest in Pacific Spirit Park and even ate some new shoots!
Everyone who attended will earn a BC Girl Guides challenge parch!
Cook over charcoal.

A lmk so we learned about hiking trail signs and we will practice this outside in the future.
We discussed what we needed to wear and bring on our forest walk.
We ended with a very short campfire.
This week we started our new challenge all about trees.
We did a nature search game outside before learning about the way trees grow.
We learned to read tree rings and tried to figure out why our trees might have grown a lot or a little and under which conditions this might occur. We talked about weather, fires and other natural reasons for different types of growth.
We also learned to HUG A TREE and SURVIVE!
We watched a video and then coloured a fact sheet about the things you need to do to survive when lost in the woods.

Tonight we had a Star Wars Night.
We heard music and tried to decide which which character it represented.
We played a game where we needed to move the planet with our water blaster!
We hunted for Kinder Eggs and then used phones to learn about our characters by using phone apps.
We painted with edible silver powder a Death Star cookie.
We ended with Grogru drink and a
Then we went outside and marked storm drains. By marking the drain we hope we it reminds people not to pour anything except water down the drain. We marked drains in teams and everyone got to paint at least one drain.
We met three new Guides and then headed out to clean up the property of the church. We used gloves and tongs to protect ourselves from all the types of garbage we encountered.
We painted pots and next week will plant seeds in them.
