CANCELLED TONIGHT - Feb 3rd

Due to the unpredictable weather for today and overnight and knowing there is no place to park once we get to the church, we are cancelling the meeting for tonight.

Next week we will be doing activities about Girl Guides around the world!

Lunar New Year

 Tonight we celebrated the countries that celebrate Lunar New Year and have Girl Guides.

Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, HK, Korea, Taiwan, Philippines, Japan

We made snake shaped bread sticks and there are no pictures because they were all eaten!

Puzzles, an active Snakes and Ladders and a story about Year of the Snake and a Lion Dance video.

Ice Skating January 20

 

January 6 - our first meeting of 2025!

We won a contest and were gifted a STEM kit to learn how a circuit works from BC Hydro.
Each Guide will make a glowing snowman!

We will also make cards for seniors living at a home on Vancouver Island where Samantha our former Girl Guide leader works!

Power Out Night

This meeting was about planning for emergencies like our power going out during a storm or other natural disasters. 

Being prepared is important in the event of power going out, storms or even an earthquake!

Tontuu Night

Guiding is in many countries including Finland. Finland has folklore about a character called a Tontuu. We learned about them by watching a video by an artist and then made napkin holders and decorated a cookie. 

Enrolment Night

We had a lovely evening making special lights from recycled jars and we recycled paper from used take out bags. 

We added lights and many new Guides made their promise and received their enrollment pins!
